I would like to take this opportunity to update you on our AGM held on Tuesday 12th September 2023. Following an election process, I am delighted to say that I have been voted as Chairperson for Tameside Netball Club following our previous chair Terri Monaghan standing down. Laura Hall was voted as Secretary Jane Chisnall Deputy Chairperson Laura Chisnall Treasurer Sophie Austin/Jaice Tetlow Safeguarding.

Over the next few weeks, I want to introduce to you key members of the club from committee members, coaches, team managers and volunteers who ensure we are able to play and compete at all levels from juniors to seniors. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Terri for all the hard work over the years overseeing the growth and development of the club.

My own background is that I started as a parent 8 years ago supporting my daughter playing for the U9, being the taxi running her everywhere. I then got into assisting the coach then completing my own L2 qualification and eventually running my own age group. I was asked to join the committee 4 years ago and now I have the honour of being chairperson for this fantastic club. It is fair to say that the last 4 years have been very challenging but down to the hard work of a number of individuals and the committee we are now seeing the number of members within the club at junior and senior level grow again. Our aim over the next few years is to get back challenging for national honours at Junior level whilst maintaining our National Prem 1 league position and our success at senior level in all competitions. This month has seen our development of our back to netball team who will make their debut in the Manchester Evening Netball League next month. They train Monday evenings 9pm at Westhill and if you are interested you are welcome to come and give it a try.

As a club and committee, we are very conscious of the financial pressures we all face and we are working very hard in trying to keep costs and membership fees to a minimum however external factors do influence this. We do have a fundraising committee and we are open to more people coming and assisting us on this, if you are interested then please contact myself on the following email ChairTamesidenetball@yahoo.com.

Going forward as a club we want to hold our own tournament following a successful senior tournament for NW Prem teams and then National Prem teams this month, this will mean a lot of hard work and support from everyone to make this a reality and I will keep you updated on this exciting opportunity. Good luck to all in the forthcoming season and I will continue to keep you updated with matters at the club which we will update on our website as well.
